IT SAVES TIME
Our document management system transforms your "hard copy" office into a streamlined digital network, able to access and retrieve data faster than even the most efficient office staff. Take the following into consideration:
- Today's computer hard drives transfer data at a rate of about 480 Megabytes per second.
- A single page in PDF format is about 6.9 kilobytes. (Or 0.0067 Megabytes.)
- At 480 Mbps / .0067 Mb = 71,641 PDF documents can be retrieved ... Per second!
- That's nearly 4.3 Million pages per minute!
- A stack of 4.3 Million pages would stand over 1433 feet tall and weigh over 20 tons!
-
It would take approximately 44 filing cabinets with 4, twenty four inch
deep drawers each to hold all of that paper. (132 sq ft.)
- 20 tons of paper per minute. That's the advantage of digital document management.
Now,
we understand you may not require 4.3 million documents per minute to
run your business. But time is money. And in the time it may take a
person to access, retrieve, and correctly return a file to its place in
a filing cabinet can be reduced to to a fraction of a second while at
the same time, allowing more time to be spent on productive business
functions, such as customer service.
IT ALSO SAVES SPACE
We know time is money. But take a minute to consider space. We require a certain amount of space for our business to operate efficiently. Effectively utilizing space is key to a smooth work flow, whether you're running a restaurant or a medical office. We also have to pay for our office space, often in the form of a long term lease. Let's take a look at the physical representation of a traditional office verses an office that utilizes a digital document management system.
One 500 Gigiabyte hard drive takes up about the same
physical footprint as a small hardcover book, about 11 square inches
and usually costs less than $200. However, the same hard drive can
hold about 7.5 Million document pages! At around 4
inches thick per stack of 1000 pages, that's nearly a 2500 feet tall
stack of paper. Stuffed into standard, 24" deep, four drawer filing
cabinets, all that paper would require at least 312 filing cabinets total! That's almost 1000 square feet! (936'sq to be exact.) Now here's where we really start to see the cost benefits of digital document management. In addition to
the cost of leasing 1,000 square feet of office space, a basic four
drawer file cabinet, as described above, will cost your business about
$150.00 at any major retail office supply store. (We found them on
Ebay for around $100.) So at $150.00 per cabinet x 312 total cabinets =
$46,800! That's a cost of about 6.24 cents per 1000
pages for storage alone. Compare that to digital document storage at
about $0.00266 per 1000 pages and it starts to become clear why
document management is important. Below is a graphic representation of
the physical size difference. You may have to squint to see the small
dot representing a standard external hard drive.

It is probably the highest resolution interactive display outside of the military: Obscura Digital's newest, longest multitouch wall, revealed this weekend at the Hard Rock in Vegas, uses three projectors to handle 100 hi-res images and videos simultaneously in realtime.
This isn't the first Obscura Digital creation to catch our eye. We've seen 3D multitouch holograms, crazy building projections and an 8-by-4-foot Missile Command-playing multitouch wall.
The new 18-foot long wall scales across GPUs seamlessly, and automatically splits the workspace for up to 6 users to flick through Hard Rock photo and video memorabilia, with image resolution upwards of 12 megapixels.
Complementing the video tech, an audio system creates a pinpointed local audio experience, so that each user can interact with content without interfering with others.
